A Dog Training Course Might Be What Your Dog Needs

A dog training course could be something for you if you need help with the basic behavioural patterns with your puppy. Getting a puppy, you can surely do the exercises yourself to get your new pal with the basics, but it might also be easier to get some guidance if you are a first time dog owner.

Just how you use your voice when communicating with your pet can be difficult, you have to use the right tone of voice to get your pet to listen to you. Clicker training can be an alternative to that, and there are many good courses you can take, that teach clicking.

Dog training online is another option. Remember to do some research and get testimonials about the course, so that it will be worth the buck you will pay. It also is a bit more demanding for you, since you still will do the exercises by yourself.

There are some things a good course should contain: teaching the basic commands, like sit, stay, walk, come, walk with loose leash, no jumping.

I prefer so called positive training, like reward and with clicker device. Be sure to check on your trainers background and his philosophy in this matter. There are many excellent teachers out there, but also some freaky ones, that see violent treatment as a necessity. Beware of those or you can scar your dog for life. Some might need harder forms of obedience practice, but that is usually if you have a dog with problematic or obsessive behaviour. If you start to train your dog early on, when it's still a puppy, gentle normal exercises are usually enough.

Working with your dog is something that will gain your whole family. A dog that knows it place in the family hierarchy is a harmonic individual, that will be a lovely family member. An untrained dog that has problems listening to you, is a stressed individual that can make you a prisoner in you own home.
